AVE deployment in Hyper-V environment

Hi,

For one of the customer i have to deploy 1 TB AVE on windows 2012 R2 hyper-v server. i checked the admin guide for the deployement and it says to uncompress the .7z file from support and download side. but does not say which folders inside that to select and proceed. does any one have any screen shots or documents for deploying the same like importing VM machine in hyper-v for the ave deployement then that would be great.

Thanks,

Chandan

Hi,

when you extract the 7z File to a Folder, it creates the folder AAVE-7.5.0.183 with 3 sub-folders (the number depends you your AVE Version). Just tell Hyper-V to use the AAVE-7.5.0.183 folder. It will find the configuration. You should see something like this:

When you have imported the VM you can setup the correct size and number of VHDs, CPUs, RAM as described in the guide.

It's all described here:

https://support.emc.com/docu85222_Avamar_Virtual_Edition_7.5_for_HyperV_System_Installation_Guide.pdf?language=en_US

When you have configured the VM start it. On the first login attempt it will go straight to the network configuration. Set your IP/Netmask/Gateway and DNS & NTP. DNS is very important. You will need to create the DNS record with the IP Address before you configure the AVE as it checks itself before you can proceed with the Avamar setup.

Once you have configured network and all the tests pass, you can point your browser to the DNS Name of the Avamar Server and then go through AVInstaller.
