Look for lines reporting "Error" or "Warn" in the logs. I've pasted an example below:
2004-07-12 21:00:30 avtar Error <5414>: Cannot establish connection with server at avademo.avamar.com:27000
Remember that for files being skipped, you will likely find some root cause recorded near the beginning of the log and this is what you should try to fix.
For example, an issue with VSS on a Windows client system will prevent the Avamar client software from being able to back up up open files. In this example, you would want to correct the VSS problem to resolve this issue rather than focusing on the open files themselves since the open files are a symptom rather than the cause of the problem.

The exception could be that the SQL instance is in SMO, then change the insance to local.
