it will try to backup a db file like *.ldf *.mdf *.ndf (sql database files) but might not be able to depending on open file
BUT you cannot really backup and/or restore a running database with a filesystem backup.
I exclude my database files from the backup and let the proper DATABASE backup get that.
but you don't have to and should not take my word for it.
Browse your backups - see if it has the db files - and I would exclude them to save space and time - as you cannot do anything with them.

Hi
running only a file level backup on a DB server does not include the db files in the backup.
RMAN as for Oracle does the DB file backup/restore activities.
I totally agree with J.H, here is what we exclude in our environment to save time and run good backups.

Absolutely, the DB files does not included if run the file level backup. Please use Avamar plugin for database to backup database. SQL plugin for SQL DB, Oracle plugin for Oracle DB etc.
Please refer to Avamar Administration Guide and Avamar Backup Clients User Guide
