Exchange 2003 Public Folder / Message Level - MAPI_E_UNKNOWN_ENTRYID
My public folders on Exchange 2003 is about 9GB total. My backups are running, giving multiple errors as listed below and only pulling in 1GB.
avtar Warning <5910>: mapistream::CreateTnef OpenEntry failed 80040201 - MAPI_E_UNKNOWN_ENTRYID.
And unable to open directory errors as below.
2010-02-28 13:13:01 avtar Warning <5819>: EDKlet::myHrMAPIOpenFolderEx2 OpenEntry failed 80004005 MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED 3 0 @PR_IPM_PUBLIC_FOLDERS_ENTRYID\Zoo
2010-02-28 13:13:01 avtar Error <5867>: Error in mapiwalk::mapiwalk MAPI: OpenStoreAndFolder failed 80004005 MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED path=@public\Zoo
2010-02-28 13:13:01 avtar Info <5868>: Error in mapiwalk::mapiwalk 268A01D8
2010-02-28 13:13:01 avtar Error <5244>: Unable to open directory "@public\Zoo" (MAPI: OpenStoreAndFolder failed).
I am not the Exchange admin, however I've reported this to him and had him double check the access levels of the backup agent. We've gone back through instructions a couple of times to review our process. We have given the Avamar user account for backups full owner on eveyr public folder and the same user delegate control over exchange as an administrator.
Message level on the mailboxes works fine, it's our public folders that cause problems. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

Client Access Permission on Exchange must be set to "None". Give "AvamarackupUser" owners permission on folder "zoo" or equivalent permission to backup.

The Avamar Backup User has those permissions already.

I have passed these on to my exchange admin. He's telling me those won't apply as we are not having those problems or they have already been applied. I am running the backup again with debug on.
Thanks.

I've found other issues with service pack levels. My exchange admin and management will not be applying the patches to exchange to assist us with troubleshooting as it would cause problems with our Blackberry sync and Activesync connections. The resolution we are working towards now is to move to the Exchange 2007 system which is fully updated and not having any problems with Avamar at this time.
Thanks for all the help!
