I cannot see my backups in restore window

Hi everybody,

I have Avamar 6.0.0 - 592 RAIN system. It is protecting VM's images and a few physical aix server's data.

I check the system everyday and I see my aix clients in successful activities. When I retrieve a client report, I see that I have succesfull backups everyday.

When I need to restore, I go to backup&restore windows and I chose one of the aix clients. And a big surprise; there is no backup.

I check backup management window, I see the same; there is no backup to restore.

In each report, I see that I have backups but I cannot see them when I need to restore.

Why Avamar doing that,is there anybody to have an idea?

Thanks

Hello,

Please click on the yellow circled dates in the Restore window, then the backup will be listed in the right pane.

Yellow circled dates are the dates on which backup was performed.

Thanks,

Sandeep

Hi Sandeep,

Maybe you should check the pictures again, I think you misunderstood my problem. If you check the activity monitor screenshot you will see 3 backups (13th-14th-15th december for client fep01) but if you check the restore window, there is no backup on 13-14-15th December..

The problem is ; Avamar backups the system daily and the schedules are running everyday and they all are completed successfuly. But when you check the restore window, you can see only 2 yellow circle from the previous week.

I’m sure that everyday the system completes the backups successfully. I checked via mccli commands but it is not possible to see my backups. When you check DPN_Summary report, it is possible to see my backups daily and they all successfull.

Is this a bug?

Thanks for reply.

Please check

1. If the backups performed after 15th Dec are visible in the restore window or not

2. The retention policy applied to the group being used for backup

3. The event monitor to see if the backups were manually deleted

Thanks.

I would recommend checking the client backup log file to see what really happened during the backup.  The strange thing in those screenshots is that the activity monitor shows that the backup took no time to complete (0 hours, minutes or seconds).

You can also check for existence of a client's backups using the utility node CLI.  Here is an example which lists all backups taken for a particular client.  Make sure to use the fully qualified name of the client.

admin@utilitynode:~/>: mccli backup show --name=/mydomain/mymachine.subdomain.something.com

0,23000,CLI command completed successfully.

All logs says that backup job completed succesfully. You can see 7 minutes to backup and you can see the data protection informations.

I checked via mccli commands. It only shows me the same picture with backup manager screen. There is no actions on 13-14-15th December. But avamar says in the logs, approximately 10000KB data had been sent

I couldn’t understand.

Hi,

As you see in the following pictures, avamar takes backups successfully but it is not possible to restore.

Because avamar does not show me the backup which it taken.

System is taking backup everyday and I checked the events, there is no deletion message. Retantion policy setting is 3 weeks. Nobody deleted any backups. Everyday schedule is working succesfully but we cannot see the backups.

I think this is a bug.

If retention is correct then retire the client from administration window and re-activate with avamar.
