is there some way to restore back before replication

sorry did not really know how to state the issue an a small number of words.

so I have two grids.

they cross replicate

Grid1 does a backup of a server at locaiton1

this will at some time get replicated to Grid2.

where once that is replicated I can do a restore from Grid2 of the server from location1 to a server a location2.

however that replication is not done.

is there a way to use Grid1 to do the restore to the server at location2 if that server is not activated to Grid1.

(I ask this because - when reading the manuals [ yes I know not something a lot of people do ] it has said more than once that you backup to grid1 replicate to grid2 and restore from grid2 back to server at location1)

well how would you do that if server at location1 is not activated on grid2?

The client to which you would like to restore the data must be activated to the grid from which you are restoring. This is true no matter what the locations of the grids and clients.

but that would mean you have to activate it on two different grids - is that allowed?

A client can only be activated to one grid at a time. You would have to reactivate the client back to the other grid once the restore finished.
