log file for - Proxy Deployment Manager Fails deploying proxy?

I am new to AVAMAR. When I try to create my Proxy and then apply I get the an error deploying proxy error. I do not see any error log.

I would appreciate any help I could get.

Hello and welcome to the Avamar forum

The first thing to do would be to take the exact error message you're seeing and punch it into the DellEMC support advanced search page.  This will help you find any related KB articles or known issues in the release notes.  A quick look when turns up >10 articles in there related to problems when trying to deploy a new proxy.

If none of those articles appear to match what you're seeing or if you're not sure please contact your local account team to request assistance from Professional Services with a new proxy deployment. 

Useful information to note down would be:-

  • A series of screenshots with an explanation of actions leading up to where the issue occurred.
  • Software release versions for Avamar, vCenter & ESX
  • The proxy deploymanager log - (/usr/local/avamar/var/log/vcs/deploymanager.log)
  • Whether you've successfully deployed other (working) proxies on this Avamar system or if this is the first deployment where you experienced an issue.

This is a dark site with no access to the outside world. I can not provide screenshots.

When the EMC\DELL\AVAMAR professional set this up 3 months ago the Proxy worked when he created one.  We recently moved our vCenter to NUTANIX.

It creates the PROXY and then fails and removes it according to the deploymentmanager.log file. (with no reason why)

I'd recommend to open an Service Request (SR) with Remote Support to log the issue.  You could discuss with them the contents of the log file and they might be able to suggest how to increase verbosity of the information generated in it or any alternative places to look for clues.

If this is a dark site and it's not possible for logs / screenshots to be sent elsewhere it may be helpful to involve a Field Support Specialist (FSS) to pay a visit.  Your account manager can help initiate that but make sure they are aware of the SR  number so that FSS and Remote Support can work together.

Can you share after what percentage it fails ? or any particular stage it fails at like "Waiting for Networking".

Go through all the newly created logs on below path which will give info on deployment session logs  and connectionmanagaer logs, and check if any error or warnings you notice.

/usr/local/avamar/var/log/vcs
