Microsoft Exchange db backups suddenly completing with exception

I have a few MS Exchange servers - all Server 2003 R2 / SP2 physical machines.  Running the Avamar 6.0.101-66 client w/ the Exchange db plug-in of the same version.  They have been running for quite some time with no problems.  Recently for one of the servers the completion status changed from "Completed" to "Completed w/Exception".  When I check the logs, late in the backup there will be errors and it is inconsistent as to how many it will get.  I'm not sure what the errors are for but I would like to find out so I can correct what is wrong.  Beyond that, I believe that because of the errors some of the datastore log files that are created though the course of the day are not getting deleted like they should.  Before long all these little 5MB files are adding up and chewing up my drive space, which in turn causes the datastore to dismount and then I've got lots of unhappy people because they can't get their email.  Obviously I can just delete these log files and remount the datastores easily enough, but I shouldn't have to do that.

Here is a sampling of one of my recent Avamar Logs...

Any ideas as to what the errors are / mean or where might I find some reference materials that would help me troubleshoot this?

have you recently finished a Exchange Migration and decommissioned the site replication service ?

Is the SRS DB still part of your Avatar Exchange Dataset / Policy ?

No changes to anything for quite some time with this server.

Hi,

Can you please verify if MS Exchange Information Store contains any empty storage group ?

If yes, then work around for this issue is to remove empty storage group.

For permanent fix you should upgrade the avamar client.

I hope this will help.

Regards,

Pawan

I'll check on the empty storage group but as far as version goes - can upgrade.  I'm running version 7.x on everything else but it's not compatible w/ Exchange 2003 so that's why I had to load the ver. 6 client on my Exchange servers.  That will get upgraded later this year, but until then I'm hoping to not have to manually battle drive space issues.
