Go ahead and upgrade your client plugins ONLY on the GRID to SP3 and install new SP3 clients on accelerator node. See if the issue goes away as we have seen many issues in SP2. This is a known issue and is basically targeted to be fixed in next version of avamar in Q1 2011.
Can you please provide us with version of avamar NDMP client installed on accelerator node? This has been seen for data movers with large numbers of filesystems
We have identified such an issue in version 5.0 SP2 and SP3 and The workaround is to start no more than 2 streams at once on the accelerator node instead of regular 4.
We are on Avamar version 5.0.2-41 and the client is version 5.0.105-169.
Limiting the number of streams to 2 won't work for us because of the number of shares (18 shares total) and we also have multiple appliances (EMC and NetApp) to backup. We currently have 3 streams for EMC and 1 stream for NetApp on the NDMP accelerator node.
