Port 28001 really needed for replication?

Question:  is port 28001 really needed for replication?

It seems previous versions of Avamar didn't need port 28001 opened for replication..

7.1.x seems to require it....  Yet replication jobs complete with a blue checkmark!

So if it is needed...  And it's not there...  why the blue checkmark?  And what does port 28001 do for replication?

Thanks

28001 is used to collect a certificate from the remote avamar in my experience this is not completely necessary for replication to occur. However it is adding a great deal of churn to the process. Might be best to just add all replication ports to allowed GSAN ports, there is a KB article on support for this.

Do you have the KB handy?

Thanks!
