Right now we are backing up several hundred clients with a retention of 14 days on the backups. We have discovered that we really don't need backups older than a week in most cases. However, let's say we change our retention policy to 7 days, and we then have a server that misses backups 10 days in a row. Will all of that server's backups be eaten by garbage collect? Is there a way to have Avamar keep backups for 7 days and keep the most recent backup if it is older than 7 days?
