Well, in the operational best practices says that you can tune the chaches for a better performance:

For a SQL Server database backup, configure the maximum hash cache in the
dataset definition by setting the following:
¿ Attribute = [avtar]hashcachemax
¿ Attribute Value = 200

Try a simple rule, In case your Database is 200 GB then set the hascachemax to 200 * 2 = 400

If you specify hashcachemax=400 then the hascache will grow to 400 MB

Can you explain how you change that parameter?  Is this on the client or the policy?  Can you give some steps?  Thanks!

SQL is a beast of its own and varies from enviroment to enviroment. Would you say this is a high use database set to Full logging. Also depends on your RTO RPO, ow much downtime can the business tolerate. We have several SQL servers that range from can be down for 48 hours to one that needs to be back online in 4 if it goes down. If you have one that needs to be online and it generates lots of logs, we have been told by several consultants to back it up every 15mins and flush the logs, this is probably done best by the SQL agent since Avamar doesnt seem to flush logs after backup, and have Avamar back it up nightly.

Hope this helps!
