VMware Image Proxy Registration
Hi All,
Today we´ve tried to implement an VMware Image Proxy for VMware Backup in Avamar and during the Setup/Registration Phase we get the following Errormessage:
[root@ubimgpxy02 ~]# /usr/local/avamar/bin/avregister
=== Client Registration and Activation
This script will register and activate the client with the Administrator server.
Enter the base directory of the AvamarClient installation [/usr/local/avamar]:
using BASEDIR=/usr/local/avamar
Enter the Administrator server address (DNS text name or numeric IP address, DNS name preferred): avnode1.ubh.local
Enter the Avamar server domain [clients]: VMware
avagent.d Info: Stopping Avamar Client Agent (avagent)...
avagent.d Info: Client Agent stopped. [ OK ]
avagent Info <5241>: Logging to /usr/local/avamar/var/avagent.log
avagent Error <7531>: Unable to register VMware/ubimgpxy02 with Administrator avnode1.ubh.local:28001
'Could not reconcile proxy with vCenter.' (203)
avagent.d Info: Client activation error. [FAILED]
avagent Info <5241>: Logging to /usr/local/avamar/var/avagent.log
avagent Info <5417>: daemonized as process id 5578
avagent.d Info: Client Agent started. [ OK ]
Enter the Administrator server address (DNS text name or numeric IP address, DNS name preferred):
Tests we´ve made:
DNS Lookup - okay
Hosts File - okay
Registration with IP Adress of Avamar Server - also fails.
This is a new Avamar Installation and the whole environment is built on VMware Clients.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance and regards,
Andreas

Yes vCenter needs to be added first before you can add anything related to vCenter. Ensure you have the latest version of VMWare guide downloaded able from Powerlink.

Hi Sameer,
Right now the customer only tried to install the Proxy host but he did not join the VCenter into Avamar.
So VCenter needs to be first in Avamar and then you can install proxy hosts into avamar.
Thanks for support we will test it tomorrow, but i guess this is the solution.

You need to ensure vCenter is added using FQDN in avamar console before you try activate proxy.

we see a similar error and the fix was to update the /etc/hosts with IPV6 entries
