Vmware proxy node upgrade
We've just upgraded our Avamar server from 6.02 to 6.1
Is there a way to upgrade our vmware proxy nodes to 6.1 or do we
need to redeploy the 6.1 ovf template onto a new vm proxy?

Please consider moving this question as-is (no need to recreate) to the proper forum for maximum visibility. Questions written to the users' own "Discussions" space don't get the same amount of attention and questions can go unanswered for a long time.
You can do so by selecting "Move" under ACTIONS along the upper-right. Then search for and select: "Avamar Support Forum" which would be the most relevant for this question.

Would the upgrade procedure in the 6.0/6.1 user guide for vmware apply to this i.e going from proxy node version 6.02 to 6.1?

The proxy architecture changed between Avamar 6.0 and Avamar 6.1. You will need to deploy new Avamar 6.1 proxies using the .ova from the Avamar 6.1 server's Documents and Downloads page.

Yes. You need to re-deploy the new Avamar 6.1 proxies.
