VSS backup issue
Hi All,
While configuring the Windows 2008 R2 server into backup when I am taking backup of only VSS components we will receiving the below error in the log message .
2012-10-01 14:12:23 avvss Error <10972>: Unable to determine if volume \\?\globalroot\device\harddiskvolume1 is supported by Microsoft system provider GUID ={b5946137-7b9f-4925-af8051abd60b20}, error = 0x80042308
2012-10-01 14:12:23 avvss Error <12077>: VSS returned an error message exiting HR = 0x80042308
2012-10-01 14:12:23 avvss Info <7271>: Final summary generated subwork 0, cancelled/aborted 0, snapview 0, exitcode 536870919
Could you please let me know if you face such an issue as I have also opned a SR with EMC and didn't getting any correct explanation of the issue
Also checked the Registry writers status after running the vssadmin list writers command and all writers are stable.
Attaching error log also

One of the solutions at this link will usually take care of these issues:
http://kb.backupassist.com/articles.php?aid=2965
Also, check the usual VSS issues (make sure all volumes have enough snapshot space configured and available free space, try to have each volume host its own snapshot space to reduce issues with cross-volume snapshots, check event viewer for volsnap events, etc).

As I checked in the Forum and get to know that AVAMAR is not compatible with the EFI partition of Windows 2008 R2 , can some one have any script which I can use as to take the dump of the system state of the server before backup .
