Celerra - local file mapping in NFS/CIFS
Celerra NS120 is using for NFS/CIFS multiprotocol environment. (standaline CIFS, no AD, no domain; vdm is using, replication is using)
I am going to use local file mapping for allowing files created thru CIFS to have mapped uid/gid in NFS filesystem. However I got failed.
Following "Configure Celerra UserMapping.pdf" page 33, I did below,
$ server_param server_2 -facility cifs -modify resolver -value 1 (default is 0)
$ server_param server_2 -facility cifs -modify acl.useUnixGid -value 1 (default is 0)
$ server_file server_2 -get passwd
$ server_file server_2 -get group
edit the downloaded passwd and group files.
$ server_file server_2 -put passwd
$ server_file server_2 -put group
What else I am missing?

With standalone CIFS servers, the Data Mover uses an internal mapping mechanism to assign UIDs and GIDs and you cannot use other mapping methods such as Ldap, local files or usermapper
You should configure one AD with minimum 2 controllers (they do not need to be powerfull computers)

I agree with Claude - domain member CIFS server is the way to go
BUT - for specialized use with a few user accounts there is a way to change the mapping - that needs to be approved via RPQ

Any way that I can have steps that I can follow to test it?

Sorry - you would have your local EMC contact to raise an RPQ
