Celerra Tape Silvering with Avamar
New to Celerra > Looking to use tape silvering for "seeding" replication 1000 miles away.
Celerra is NS-G8 running v 5.6.47-11 with Symmetrix on the back side at both sites.
Avamar v4.1.0.1470 both sites with replication active. Basic backup and restore tested with replicated copy.
Q 1) Has anyone used Avamar to perform tape silvering?
Q 2) Can I use a different storage pool for the checkpoints than the file system?
Q 3) GUI vs CLI, which one is better for the job?
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think you can use an Avamar restore as a basis for Replicator silvering
Silvering requires a block-based copy whereas AFAIK Avamar works with file-based (PAX) NDMP backups

Yes, but this decision has to be made, when creating the first checkpoint of the filesystem.
Just create the first checkpoint manually and chosse the desired storage pool. All other checkpoints of this FS will then use your choosen pool.
If there no checkpoint for a FS, and no pool choosen, when creating the first one of this FS, then the system will choose the same pool than the PFS is on.

Is there a way to move the checkpoints to a different pool?
Can I change where the checkpoints are being created by running a mannual agein and then create a new schedule while allowing the old schedule to die slowly? How can I do this without loosing any checkpoints?

You can specify where the savvol gets stored - BUT only when you
create your FIRST checkpoint
All subsequent ones for that fs will follow onto the same device
