take a look at document called "Managing Administrative Accounts on Celerra". This will walk you through the process of creating different types of accounts, and yes ..you have to be root to do that.
I am using Java 1.5.0 ..no problems. Have you tried FireFox ?
With 5.6 code - we do have role based accounts for Celerra Management. So using GUI, you can create the new users according to their roles and also define customer roles. You can select access to Celerra Manager, Control Station Shell (CLI) and XML API individually. You may refer to the Documentation CD or online Help page in the Celerra Manager which is really helpful.
Also, I'll suggest to take a look at the following technical documents for 5.6 code (available on Documentation CD or on PowerLink) -
!"Controlling Access to Celerra System Objects" and "Celerra Security Configuration Guide"
The document dynamox referred is also very helpful - but that was upto 5.5 code where we don't had role based accounts on Celerra Manager.
Thanks. We are still in the emplementation stage (not production) and have EMC PS coming in this and next week. I'll have them look at it and escalate if needed.
