makes for better readability

yes, 5.6 got released on March 25th for new installs

For upgrades there is the normal 90 day rule - unless you have require specific 5.6 features and ask for an exception

The 5.6 documentation is up in the doc section of Powerlink - single manuals and a new doc CD

There are going to be quite some white papers about new 5.6 functionality - I'll post links once they are live

yes, if you have 514 or 514T data movers

DART 5.6 is supported on DM 514 (but not 510 DM) model.

By the way, why did you not open a new thread? :) You will not be able to reward points ;)

Cheers,
Sandip

nas_summary will give you that information as well =)

There's a handful of different ways. The simplest, since you can walk in at look at the shoeboxes, is to look at a label on the box. There should be a small printed label that has a string containing the model number, e.g. 514, 510, 507.

Another is to look at the system specs in "server_sysconfig -P". The 514 has 1600Mhz processors. The 510 has 866Mhz.

If you have very new 5.5 (5.5.31 or above, I believe), you can also run the /nas/tools/nas_summary command, which should break down the DM model #s for you.

In fact, if you don't have the nas_summary tool, I've attached a copy. You should be able to run this on any 5.5 system.

Rename the file to just "nas_summary" (the message board only allows files with certain extensions to be posted).

Actually there is a /nas/sbin/model command - but it will only tell you the base model and not the data mover types

Hi Rainer,
We are about to put in 2xNS80g and 2xNS40g so because these are new installs we will be going straight to 5.6 so we can use the cascading replication.. I have been checking almost daily the "celerra user documentation" link off the main NS80G website here:

http://corpusweb130.corp.emc.com/ns/NSX_NS80/doc/ns80G_documentation.htm

But it is still 5.5. Could you please give me a link to the 5.6 Documentation CD?

UPDATE: ok i found it by searching for it... maybe emc should update those links.. :)

Thanks,
Packetboy.

Hey Rainer,
Wow that was quick.. Thanks for the links.. I just downloaded the 5.6.36 CD from the link you gave me... I read most of pdf's from the 5.5 cd so I will read the new features one and the replication one seeing I think thats what has changed the most between these two releases? :)

im looking forward to using these celerras.. im booked on the Celerra multiprotocol course in London in June... :)
