Error during CEPA registration, incomplete XML
Hello All,
I'm trying to develop simple application for testing CEE/CEPA audit possibilities using SampleCEPPServer from CEPA API Kit. When I start EMC CAVA service, CEPA periodically calls Register(...) function in SampleCEPPServer, but rejects RegisterResponse XML with following messages in DebugView:
[712] [EMC CAVA]: CEPPAPIWrapper[AUDIT][SampleCEPPServer][Local]::ValidateResponse(): Register response:[712]
[712] [EMC CAVA]: CEndPoint::Init(): Name or FriendlyName not specified.
[712] [EMC CAVA]: CEndPoint::Init(): Incomplete XML. Required Name or FriendlyName not present
Respectively Celerra VSA command "server_cepp server_2 -pool -info" reports "state = ERROR_CEPP_NOT_FOUND".
What is wrong here, any ideas? It is possible CEPA expects some hardcoded string in 'name' attribute?
CEE 4.5.0.4, win32

Was CAVA installed earlier on this machine? If so, you need to uninstall CAVA before installing CEE pack.
Also, ensure the Domain user name having local administrative right on the server is used to start the service.
On the NAS side - did you configure the CEPA properly - have you modified cepp.conf file to include the name/IP address of the CEE/CAVA server? And also check whether the same Domain user used for CAVA service is granted "EMC Event Notification Bypass" Rights on the CIFS server - using the MMC Snap-in.
Please refer to the following documents which may provide all the details -
Using Celerra Event Enabler
Using EMC Celerra Event Publishing Agent
Thanks,

Using EMC Celerra Event Publishing Agent" document with correct CAVA server IP (Celerra definitely can establish connection with CAVA server - for example, if I stop CAVA windows service, I have got different error on Celerra: "state = OFFLINE", not "state = ERROR_CEPP_NOT_FOUND").
I think the problem is not in Celerra <-> CEPA communication, but in CEPA <-> SampleCEPPServer. It seems the problem is in RequestResponse XML returned from SampleCEPPServer. Can CEPA accept any EndPoint name/friendlyName strings, or it expects only specific ones? Doc says nothing about it..
Thanks for your help!

Are you running both CEPA and the emulator under the same domain user (usually the error CEPP_NOT_FOUND is reported because CEPA service cannot talk to the application)

Do you mean both CEPA service and CEPA consumer application (SampleCEPPServer in my case)? Yes, they both running under the same account with local/domain admin rights. CEPA definitely can talk to the app - I recieve Register(...) request from CEPA in SampleCEPPServer. Similarly CEPA service can recieve response from app - we can see it in DebugView console (see my first post). So it seems CEPA - SampleCEPPServer connection is OK.
Thanks,
Sergey

Hi,
Im not really familiar with the CEPA configuration.
Can anybody give some examples of vendor’s consumer application software that compatible to CEPA?
How many required servers for cava pool? it is allowed to use 1 server?
Appreciate if you can give feedback regarding this matter.
Thanks a lot.
