Maximum file on a fs in a NS40

Hi,

Do you know the limitations of a celerra NS40 ?

I have a need with :
Number of file in a FS : 6 000 000
Number of directory : 22 000
Arborescence : 5 level

Is it possible ?

Thanks for your response.

Hi,

First of all welcome to EMC Forums.

Regarding your question - I am not aware of any such direct limit of maximum number of files on a file system but there are some other related and useful numbers/limits on NS40 which are listed below.

However, I'll suggest to get in touch with your EMC representative or EMC TC to have a detailed discussion on your requirement and environment.

Number of sub-directories (per parent directory) - 65,533
Number of files per directory - 500,000 (will create performance issue if exceeded)
Number of files/directories opened per data move - 200,000
Number of files/directories opened per CIFS connection - 64k max (16k default)

Hope this helps,
Sandip

no problem - the limit per file system is 257.949.696 (default) ¿ 4.294.967.295 (max)

so for 6 million your file system just has to be big enough - in this case at least around 50GB

sure - no problem

most of that you can find in the Configuration Guidelines section of the release notes for the DART version you are running, which you'll find on Powerlink in this category:

Home > Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Hardware/Platforms Documentation > Celerra Network Server > Release Notes

The number of files per fs isnt there - I found that in the Parameters Guide, avalaible from Powerlink:

Home > Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Hardware/Platforms Documentation > Celerra Network Server > Installation/Configuration
