Question about allocating symmetrix storage to Celerra

I’ve dusted off some 4 year old notes on allocating symmetrix storage to the Celerra. I’ve set the emulation type on some devices to celerra_fba and am now trying to map these devices to the Celerra FAs. When I start this action the first thing I see is a pop-up that reads:

“For Celerra Lun address of 0x00 to 0x01 are reserved as System addresses and should not be used".

I assume this is just a warning to keep me from screwing things up. I say “ok” proceed and it puts the devices under the FA. The lun addresses are not 0x00 or 0x01. Is this message normal?

Thanks!

symcfg list -sid 000 -dir 7A -p 0 -address -available

Symmetrix ID: 00000000000

           Director                 Device Name          Attr     Address
    ---------------------- ----------------------------- ---- --------------
Ident   Symbolic  Port Sym   Physical                     VBUS  TID  LUN
    ------  --------  ---- ----  -----------------------      ----  ---  ---

    FA-7A   07A       0    0040  Not Visible             VCM     0   00  000
                           170C  Not Visible             (M)     0   00  001
                           172A  Not Visible             (M)     0   00  002
                           1748  Not Visible             (M)     0   00  003
                           1766  Not Visible             (M)     0   00  004
                           1784  Not Visible             (M)     0   00  005
------- snip --------- snip -----------------------------------------------

                           11EB  Not Visible                     0   00  033
                           11EC  Not Visible                     0   00  034
                           11ED  Not Visible                     0   00  035
                           11EE  Not Visible                     0   00  036
                           -     AVAILABLE                       0   00  037 *

so you see in this example i have an available address 037, you want to make sure you find the same address on both FAs.

The model of the celerra is NS40g running DART 5.6.44-4. I'm not sure if it boots from the Symm. Don't think so. Not sure how to confirm that.

Celerra has specific requirements for lun numbers.  Data luns start an 10 (hex) and work their way up incrementally.  Lun numbers 0-F(hex) are reserved for control luns.  To find the control volumes just look for luns below F (hex) and thats where the boot volumes are.

Zoned to a Clariion? Yes. It's zoned to both a dmx1000 and a cx3-20.
