Question with Celerra Manager & NAS 5.6 code

Hi, I have recently installed an NS40G running DART 5.6.36.4 & have noticed that after rebooting the control station it takes Celerra Manager at least 15-20mins to come ready completely.

If you ssh in after less than 10 minutes all FS are mounted but if you start celerra manager it comes up in Basic edition and the has the error message "query celerras all no response from celerra manager for task query celerras all". If you then leave it for 15-20 mins and restart celerra manager everything shows up normally - Advanced edition etc..

Has anybody else seen this or is it working as designed?

Thanks

It takes some time to start the Celerra Manager application after the Control station is rebooted.

What OS and Browser you are using and what version of JRE is used? It will be better to use the JRE version that came with the Software (Tools & Application CD).

If you feel this still takes longer time, please open a service request with EMC Support.

Thanks,
Sandip

im seeing the exact same thing, but with a ns20.
I have two of them here, one boots fairly quick, but the other one takes much longer. NAS filesystems are mounted quite fast, but the gui gives the error above.

After a CS reboot, the GUI is back quite fast, but afterlogging in with nasadmin, i get the "service temporarily unavailable message". I leave it like that for 5 mins, and after that i can log in, but te celerra manager gives the message:

Query all celerras all. No response from celerra manager for task Query Celerras all.

This is a new installation, so no upgrade, but the unit did not have it before, as it was working find before the shutdown before last weekend.

check if your name resolution (DNS) works correctly - especially if you are able to reverse-lookup your control station IP address

i do not even have dns configured yet.
Dont think dns is related...

What log files would you recommend checking for further troubleshooting?

I've checked the server_log, but te dm''s seem to be running fine.

ok it seems patience is the fix here :)
I just let it idle overnight, and everything was ok this morning.

this should not be normal behavior ..i would open a ticket on this. When i reboot my CS on NS80 ..it's available immediately. I am on 5.5.30 though.
