renaming a Celerra network server (CIFS server and CS)
Hi,
I've found the following notices:
emc156835 "Procedure for renaming a Windows 2000/2003 Data Mover while preserving localgroups, shares, and file system permissions."
emc219022 "How to change the hostname of a Celerra Control Station"
Nothing else to do ? even though it's really an easy test case:
- the system I need to rename is a NS-480 with 2 Data Movers
- the only protocol licences we use are CIFS and NFS
- no VDM for the moment, only one "main" CIFS server declared
- it's not a production system yet
- the control station needs to be renamed as well
- no IP address change, only names
Thanks
Eric

Hi,
as for the CS rename in your scenario, it might be simpler to login to the Celerra Manager GUI as root, then click on Control Station Properties, then change the hostname.
Regarding the CIFS server rename, the best procedure is actualy what's written on the primus you found.
By doing this, the AD/DNS database will be automatically updated with the new name, and you not loose any CIFS configuration like shares and local groups.

Finally, I followed the two articles and it worked perfectly with the CLI.
