Have you tried the following (from the man page in 5.6.43):
The -baseDN specifies the Distinguished Name (DN) of the directory base, an x509 formatted name that uniquely identifies the directory base. Example : (ou=abc,o=def,c=ghi).
If a base distinguished name contains space characters, enclose the entire string within double quotation marks and enclose the name with a backslash and double quotation mark. For example, "\"cn=abc,cn=def ghi,dc=com\""
