Spanning CIFS File Systems

Forgive me if I dont get all the terminology correct I am learning as I go.

We are setting up a CIFS Share for some tests. We have created Ten 1TB File systems, I have heard you can span the file systems into one unit for better performance but am unclear on how to do it. Any thoughts?

i am not sure what you heard ..maybe nested file system ? With nested file systems you create your top level directory and then you mount component file systems underneath, so when you access your top level directory ..you will still see component file systems as different folders. I don't see any performance benefits in this at all. Maybe you were thinking about using custom pools where you dedicate specific LUNs for specific file systems, but with 1T file systems ..you would need to have a lot of disk space to do that. What are these file systems for ? Simple file sharing, iSCSI ..etc ?

its for CIFS in this case, the EMC Tech mentioned you could do this on the phone, we are trying to get a hold of him to see exactly what he meant, we may have misunderstood, :)
