Using MirrorView/S or SANcopy for backend migration
Hi
I have a customer with a NS-40FC who would like to re-use it with his CX4-240 - currently weighing the options here - and have a few questions:
1. Would this even be a supported configuration, given that the NS-40 came integrated with the CX3-20?
2. If the answer to #1 is yes, if I recreated the storage groups, luns etc on the CX4, including the control luns, would the NS complain, since it would be presented from a different serial number array?
3. I had a look at using MirrorView/S for DR in this case - it would work if only the customer had another NAS, which they don't at the moment..
Other comments are appreciated!

What exactly do you want to do?

The goal would be to reuse the nas with the cx4 backend, if possible - migrating the data and configuration as I go.

Hi
Let me try to rephrase myself:
I'd like to use the control station / data movers with a different backend storage than it was originally bundled with (a cx3-20) - keeping the file systems / shares etc as I go.
Regards,
Bjorn

No - that's not supported to do
For one the CX4-240 was never qualified as part of a NS Integrated
Converting the NS40 into a gateway NS40G isnt supported AFAIK - you could try an RPQ for that
You could maybe upgrade the NS-40 to a NS-480 - but that would require CX4-480 parts and not 240
