I do see the directory but I get the message in the console "the installed version of VMware Tools is not up to date. log to the guest operation system and click Update tools. If I click update tools it tells me: make sure you are logged in to guest OS. mount virtual CD drive n the guest and double click the RP installer.
since it is command only I can't click on any thing. I have mount /dev/cdrom selected the /tmp/vmware-tools-distrib directory but there are no files there

Vmware tools should already be installed on the Simulator. Do you see a /tmp/vmware-tools-distrib directory?
