Can Centera be configured as unprotected storage?

After reviewing the Centera doc on PowerLink I'm certain the answer to this question is 'no' but I want to make sure I have an unequivocal answer to those on my SE team who are asking.

The answer is no. Centera provides CAS storage not block storage.

Correct me if i am wrong here... The data on the centera is protected by the protection schemes CPP(content protection by parity) or CPM(content protection by mirror- default).CPP requires min of 8 nodes to implement.So the data on the centera will always be protected.and there are different levels of retention on the centera -1.Basic-no retention2.CE -can be deleted using priviledged delete...3.CE+(infinite retention)so as per my little centera knowledge...we cant have a unprotected centera....regardssarbjit
