Centera logs and deleting
Hi,
We use a Centera here and we'd like to know a few things (I already checked but couldn't find the answer) :
We archive data linked to a pea profile.
We'd like to know how we can (daily|weekly|monthly) get the information of who archived and when a file?
And also we'd like to know how we can delete a file before the end of the retention time (we own a Centera version who allows it).

Hi,
For your question regarding deleting data before retention has expired; you will need to use Centera Privileged Delete API from your application. Please refer to the Centera API Reference Guide for explanation of the API Call required in order to perform Privileged Deletes. Note that you will also need to enable the Privileged Delete capability at the Centera cluster, pool and profile level. This will allow deletion of data under retention only on a GE compliance mode Centera.
API Reference Guide is included in the SDK download package and is available from the ECN Download Center

I think Zeeshan already answered your second question well.
As for your first question: ApplicationAudit, a Centera Integrated Solution we developed, will exactly answer such questions for you. ApplicationAudit will build a database with all object creations and deletions including the corresponding metadata. In a separate GUI you can query the database based on timeframe and profile for objects created or deleted. This output will then tell you if, who and when such an operation (either delete or write) has been performed.
The PLUS Edition of ApplicationAudit will additionally allow to ensure data readability wither based on a cliplist from an application or based on the ApplicationAudit database.
If you don't want to use an application you can write one on your own using the Query functionality in the API/SDK for Centera.

Sorry for the late reply.
Thank you for all your answer.
About the "audit", after looking at the tools EMC offers (ie: chargeback) we also thought that we have to develop our own solution or buy another one.
