If you have physical access to Centera then you can see visually. If they have front panel then its Gen1 or Gen2 or Gen3. If there is no front panel it's Gen4 or Gen4 LP.

Gen4 LP ships only with 750 Gig drive reported on the disk sled.

The chance of seeing Gen1 and Gen2 are remote.

Just curious why do you need this information?

I don't have physical access, I have 14 clusters with up to 160 nodes per cluster. We are evaluating whether or not to upgrade some or all of the clusters to Gen4LP nodes as the leases expire. I need to be able to evaluate the space, capacity, and power metrics of what we have in place now vs. where we would be with Gen4LP nodes.

I found a partial list in the Centera online help, but it is FAR from complete.

Hi Steve -

I have a couple of related questions for you.

Are you using the Centera SDK to retrieve the model number information from the nodes?

If so, are you using the API to monitor other operational parameters of your Centera farm via custom software?

Lastly, if you are, our Centera SDK engineering team is interested in engaging with users of the monitoring APIs (referred to collectively as MOPI) to discuss the future direction of these interfaces. If you would be willing to provide your input please contact me directly at horgan_mike@emc.com.

Also, given the size of your Centera installation, you probably have a dedicated EMC account team. When you have difficulty locating needed product information, the account team can be engaged to get you what you need as efficiently as possible.

Best Regards,

I have not yet started working with the SDK, I'm trying to avoid having to learn yet another set of tools. I have considered writing a custom monitoring application, but have not made the decision to do that yet.

I am currently using the Centera CLI driven by Perl scripts to gather the data from each cluster and stuff it into a SQL table for use by the reporting tools I have. Driving a CLI that is designed to be interactive instead of scripted was interesting until I found some clues in either this forum or the lighthouse forum (I forget which).

We do have an account team, but I thought this would be a good starting point - especially since the info might be useful to others searching this forum.

I would be happy to provide input for the monitoring APIs and will email you directly.

You can run the command

show node detail all and look for the model number

Gen1 NetworkEngines_1.0
Gen2 118032306
Gen3 118032400
Gen4 ¿ 1.2 TB 100-580-006
Gen4 ¿ 2.0 TB 100-580-053
Gen4LP ¿ 3.0 TB 100-580-539

This should let you know what generation of hardware you have.

That is very helpfull! Exactly the information I require in order to create a script for reporting and inventory.

However, this mapping is 4 years old. In the meantime, there are newer Models (such as 100-580-693). Would you (or anyone) be able to complete the list with the models currently out there..??

Cheers

FYI the node model information is available from Centera viewer node list. Select "model".

Hello Folks,

We are also interested to retrieve physical information of a GEN4LP 100-580-711-01 Rev05

in particular the RAM, the CPU can be viewed from the CPU info link on the management server, and the Hard Drive are physically can be seen on the front panel.

Thank you,

Hi every  one, could you help me to know if I can replace a 100-580-693 cantera node with a 100-580-573 centrra node? Thank you so much and best regards.
