Hi Deep

In case you want to use Centera as File Storage you need to implement an application that provides CIFS or NFS Shares to your clients and moves their data to Centera.

There are a couple of so-called HSM solutions or Gateways.

I would consider the StorageSwitch Gateway to be a good HA solution that typically suits requirements.
From EMC there is CUA and DiskXtender for Windows and Linux. CUA is more focused on applications writing to a share instead of users. DX/UL and DX for Windows work. Both have their features and functions that need to be matched with your criteria and requirements.

If you already have your data on a File Server and want to archive this one I would consider QStar, File@PAM, EnterpriseVault and DX as potential solutions.

In all of this have in mind that a backup and recovery strategy needs to be put in place. If you plan to archive without retention period do not forget to consider the Centera in your backup and recovery plan too as deletes from endusers will get propagated to the Centera. If no retention was set or it expired the delete will be successfull on the Centera too. Without a recovery solution for Centera your data will be deleted and unrecoverable. For this please consider DelayedDeletes and AdvancedRecovery.

Best regards, Holger
