Problem with writes since Centrastar upgraded.

Hi

We just had our primary Centera patched from 4.02-3195 to 4.1. Since the start of the upgrade we see intermittent

write errors (10101 - Premature end of packet...) errors (something like 7 or 8% of writes) from all our windows platforms which use SDK 3.0.414 wheras our unix platforms all have worked for the last 36 hours without error but are using 3.1.544

The compatibility matrix says both releases are compatible with 4.1 Centrastar. But im wondering if anyone has encountered similar problems?

We are still investigating any network issues (which 10101 im told normally relates to) but im not convinced given we see no errors through the newer SDK (albeit different platform).

Second part is...where can i download a Windows version of the 3.1.544 SDK from? Do i need to request it from EMC? I cant find a downloads page for it.

Im hoping we may be able to install it on a Development platform and prove if the issue is network or not.

Regards

Marc

it seems our unix platforms are experiencing similar packet loss after all, just not so frequent as the application generates much fewer writes.

All these losses started a few minutes after all the Access nodes were rebooted following upgrade.

We've taken 4 of the 8 nodes offline and its now stable. It looks like one node has a problem and this may have been an existing fault that came to light with the reboot. Tomorrow we will put the first 3 nodes back to prove its just the one.

Given we were seeing intermittent loss of circa 1 in 7 or 8 writes im at a loss as to why the case engineers never suggested testing individial ports by taking them offline but progress has been made now.

May be useful info for others who experience similar problems.
