SDK logging using FP_LOGPATH variable

I'm trying to set the FP_LOGPATH environment variable to enable SDK logging. I have set the value of this variable to "D:\temp\centera_sdk.log", but it does not appear to be working for me. No log file is generated. I have a few questions regarding this feature:

1.) Does it work with the Java API?

2.) What SDK version was it introduced in, or more specifically, is it supported in 3.0 SP1?

3.) Where is this feature documented? I see no mention of it in either the API Reference or the Programmer's Guide.

4.) Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
