Does anyone know what's the procedure to migrate an existing Symantec Enterprise Vault Storage repository, that is currently on NetApp .. to new Storage Repository which is an EMC Centera Pool ?

Hi
I was checking the Admin as well as the Utilities Guide without success. My trial key for my EV installation has expired so I cannot look onto a real installation for the moment.
The best I found was in the EV8 Admin Guide, day-to-day administration. Moving a vault store to a different vault store group:
You can move a vault store to a different vault store group only if all of the
following circumstances apply:
■
You upgraded to Enterprise Vault 8.0.
■
The vault store is one that Enterprise Vault upgraded, or one that you created
in the Default Upgrade Group.
■
The vault store's sharing level is "No sharing" and has never been changed.
Note that when you move a vault store, it retains the sharing level "No sharing".
To move a vault store to another vault store group
1
Right-click the vault store and select Change Vault Store Group from the
shortcut menu.
The
Change Vault Store Group wizard starts.
2
Work through the Change Vault Store Group wizard.
For more information, see the help that is provided with the wizard.
I hope this is what you are looking for.

Hi Luay
I don't know the exact procedure but when talking to EV people at another customer they had a similar problem. They had content on Centera with a wrong retention period.
It came down to:
- create a new Centera-based vault store and partition
- make sure all new content already goes to the new store
- move the old content from the old store to the new one
I'm not sure whether this can be done on a partition level or on a store level.
Best regards, Holger

Hello Holger,
That's helpful to know .. thanks ..
but the step I need to know how to do .. is how to move the old data from Netapp to Centera after configuring the new repository and directing new writes to this new repository ..

Symantec Enterprise Vault has an out-of-the-box utility to perform such migration tasks. It is called "NTFS to Centera migrator".
The tool has been successfully used for many years, and is part of the utilities kit released with EV 8.0 SP3 (see chapter 18 of the Utilities pdf). The migrator automatically moves the data from one storage device to the other and updates the EV databases/indexes to reflect the changes. Also, best practices on EV and Centera are available at http://www.emc.com/collateral/hardware/white-papers/h6790-symantec-enterprise-vault-centera-wp.pdf
Hope this helps.
