2 host sharing same LUN w/o data refreshing in real time

I have 2 hosts (VM), in a storage group, sharing a single LUN. I understand that this goes against performance best practices but I have a stubborn administrator who insists that it be this way. When a server (host) writes to the LUN, the other server does not see the data that was written to the LUN. If I remove both servers from the LUN and re-connect them then all data is present. Should both hosts be able to see the data written by either to the LUN in real time?

Thanks in advance.

bad idea Bruce. You are going to have corruption. Unless you are using some kind of clustering software (MS Clustering/Veritas Clustering) ..two servers should not have concurrent access to the same LUN.

what is the OS for both hosts ,
anyway you cant mask a lun for more than one host unless u have a Cluster environment , this against data integrity
, in general to make second host see the changes "This requires host buffers to be flushed "
