Agent cannot communicate with the storage system

This is a rather dumb question but I need to ask it anyway. I saw some messages similar to the one below in my log file. What is it trying to tell me? Who would the agent in question be?

That would be your NaviSphere agent having hard time talking to the storage processor. Have ip address/firewall or something related changed?

try to ping the IP address of the SP from the Host. Else you need to check the firewall..

Check the binding order of your network config on the host and make sure the host IP is first

See also EMC Knowledgebase article emc141911 ("Why does the event log intermittently show 'Agent Main exception' error?"). The article, which is customer-viewable from Powerlink, says in part: "The switch port statistics for both SP A and SP B showed counting errors. Other hosts plugged into the same switch blade are running cleanly. However, the ports on the Cisco switch are set to 100Mbps/full-duplex. The SPs automatically run at auto-negotiate and cannot be modified."
