If you are using ODM definitions, you have to set it to Enable, if you use CLArrayS3 software you have to set it to Disable

very useful, thanks. but what's the difference between ODM definition and CLArrayS3. if i install a new CX4 array, which should be used.

I'm pretty sure that the ODM is required for connectivity to all the new arrays (FLARE versions) and I'm absolutely sure it is required for the new versions of PowerPath.

I can remember a migration from older arrays to newer arrays where we were required to upgrade Powerpath as part of the prerequisites. The change to ODM happened at the same time and the more I think about it the more sure I am that it was tied to the version of Powerpath.

You also need to determine the AIX version and what it needs to be supported on the CX4 - you should check the EMC Support Matrix for the most up-to-date information and the release note for the CX-4.

Like I said, we were doing a FLARE upgrade and PowerPath at the same time and I couldn't remember which one drove the change from ClarArray to ODM.
