As long as you have IP connectivity between your host and the array (no firewall) you should be able to have Agent register the host on the array. Please see Knowledgebase article emc66921 - you may need to add the agentID.txt file to the server if the server has more than one NIC.

I would also suggest that you consult the E-Lab configuration checker on PowerLink - go to:

Home > Support > Interoperability and Product Lifecycle Information > E-Lab Interoperability Navigator

Then click on the link:

"Launch E-Lab Interoperability Navigator "

Once you get to the next page - at the top select the tab called "PDFs and Guides" - from there find the Netware PDF under the ESM column - this lists the most current compatibility data for Netware.

i tried putting the NavHstId.txt in sys:\etc with servername and ip, booted server no luck (emc66921)

after that i tried with putting the agentID.txt in sys:\ with servername and ip, booted server no luck. (emc104385)

i will check the compatibility guides for netware now..

still strange that without above options i got it working on our other storage systems but not on the new ones..

Thanx for your input Kelleg!

I was never able to get our 6.5 servers to register automatically to our CX700. Worked with support on it for a while with no success and decided to manually register. Didn't worry me because I commented naviagent out of startup anyway because it caused too many abends.

We ran NW Clustering from 2000-2006 starting with the FC4700. Just didn't find the agent useful enough to deal with the problems it caused.

I remember CPQSCSI=bad SCSIHD=good
I also learned to give Netware a LUNZERO or it would hang on loading PPath.

It has been a while...
