AX4-5 System Disk fail on SP
Hello, When I power on my SP, I get many errors relating to disk failure on disk 1. After checking for Disk Parameters (extended), I see an amber light on Disk 0 and soon after the SP reboots itself resulting in an endless cycle. So it never fully reboots. I do have other Disk 0 disks from other arrays that I am not using. Is it possible to use one of those? If so, how? Thanks

I believe on the AX4 that disk 0 is one of the vault drives, you should contact EMC service to get this replaced. Normally you should have a hot spare that would provide a replacement, but if it's a area on the disk that can not be spared you will need to have it replaced - do not use a disk from another array - there is data in the vault drives that only applies to that system.

When a vault drive fails it gets replace just like any other disk. One difference is that it will not just rebuild onto a hot spare, the data on it is mirrored, and when it is replaced it will rebuild from the mirror.
So I would not use a vault drive from another system; if nothing else that would 'break' the donor system. You should be able to use any valid (AX4...) disk of equal or greater size.
