I have rebooted, recabled, and rerun the Initialization Utility to no avail. I have confirmed that the host and array are on the same subnet and there are no firewalls interfering with the communication. The software still does not discover the storage array. I have also tried plugged directly into the machine with a crossover cable. In that scenario I am able to ping the ethernet port on the AX5-4F by pinging 1.1.1.1 The software still can't find the array. I also have a ticket open, but its going very slowly. ><

The storage initialization wizard need to be run on a computer connected to the same physical network .
Make sure there is no router between the client and the ax4-5 management port .

Ok , if the utility doesn't work you can follow this procedure :
- you need to connect serial cable to your pc and to the sp management port
- create a ppp connection on your pc (see instruction below)
- establish a ppp connection
- open the web browser and point to http://192.168.1.1/setup
- here you can set you ipaddress

For create and configure the ppp connection please follow the instruction below :
To set up the direct serial port connection to the array follow these steps:

1. Select Start -> Settings -> Network and Dial Up Connections -> Make New Connection.
2. When the Network Connection Wizard starts, click Next to begin.
3. Click the Connect directly to another computer button and click Next.
4. Click on the Guest button.
5. Click Next. The Select a Device window displays.
6. On the Select a Device pull down menu, select Communications between two computers (COM1) or select COM2 if the cable is connected to COM2 and click Next.
7. On Connection Availability window, select Create this connection: For all users button.
8. Click Next.
9. From the Completing Network Connection Wizard dialog box, assign the connection a name.
10. Click Finish.

12. In the Properties dialog box under the General tab click the Configure button.
13. In the Modem Configuration dialog box click the Maximum Speed pull down menu and select 115200 bps. Click OK to close the Modem Configuration dialog box.

Note: Verify that the computer or Service Laptop is correctly configured to receive the IP address from the FC4700 array. Click the Networking tab of the Properties dialog box, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties. Under the General tab verify that the Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically buttons are both selected. Click Cancel to back out of that menu or click OK to accept any changes that you have made.

Still no luck. We opened another box and tried on another new AX4-5F and have gotten the same results. This is getting frustrating. I opened another Ticket and will continue opening tickets for each SSN we have until we can solve this.

Thanks for trying to help though, the response in the forum has been far more helpful than from my service tickets.

hello SIR.

could you please try the following

1- Use the latest version of Navisphere intialization Tool. i believe it will discover it. if it doesn't go to step 2.

2- connect directly to SPA and SPB using th efollowing IP 1.1.1.1/setup and change the MGMT IP from 1.1.1.1 to your IP. if it doesn't .use step 3.

3- in SPA you will find a small button in right side of the green power button, press on it for 10 sec and try using Navi Init Tool again.
