Cabling Status Is Invalid

I have a red "F" displaying in Navisphere by a bus enclosure standby power supply...when I check properties on the bus SPS it displays a message:

Bus 0 Enclosure 0 SPS A is faulted...cabling status is invalid

Is there some sort of troubleshooting documentation that I can use to see exactly what this message is telling me? obviously the message is somewhat clear when it says "cabling status is invalid" but what is "invalid" about it and how do I correct it?

It is quite possible that what is invalid is that it is either loose, or there may be a bent pin on one of the connectors.

Best suggestion I can give you is to open a case with Support and get a tech out to investigate. This is something you are going to want to do sooner rather than later, as a faulted SPS can cause your write cache to be disabled... this could have a severe performance impact on some of your attached hosts (depending on their workload).

What is the CLARiiON model? Is it possible for you to verify the SPS cabling is done properly.

Also, was this powered up (or power recycled) recently? Do you see the other SPS in charging status? It may happen that when you power up or reboot the system, one SPS is in charging state whether the other SPS is waiting for the first SPS to be charged and then the second SPS will start charging. In between it may show faulty status.

Anyway, if you don't find anything else, as Allen suggested, please open an EMC Service Request at the earliest possible.

Thanks,
Sandip

Did one of the SP's reboot or perhaps the whole Clariion rebooted ? Was a Flare upgrade or an enabler installed ? Furthermore: what's the test time for both SPS's ?
Usually every Sunday at around 2AM both SPS's will do some testing, perhaps that somebody by accident changed those times ?

Or indeed something is wrong.....

I had got just this symptom on a CX700 after upgrading to flare 26.11, Red F on SPS-A (cable status unknown ), I tried to disconect SPS to SPE cable, Pwr off/on SPS then conect cable on both SPS to overcome the problem, the result was both SPS Red F with "cable status unknown" , and Write cache disabled.
Should I reboot SP´s to get correct SPS status ???

After we had a new CX3-20c installed we had this issue, after checking the cabling was fine I contacted support who just told me to powerdown the SPS with the fault, leave it off for 10 seconds then power it on again. That cleared the fault and it hasn't come back.

I've seen the same thing as well a couple of times now and indeed: powering down/up the SPS solved the problem.
