Changing RAID level
I have a couple LUNs created as RAID 1/0 (unused, not going to be used). Can I just change them to RAID 5 for another server we want to attach or do I need to destroy those LUNs and recreate them?
TIA
TIA

i think it has something to do with using MetaLUN offset and SnapView/Mirrorview ...take a look at document "EMC Clariion Best Practices for Performance and Availability Release 28.5". Why do you need to know my name ?

Lynny,
i would recommend you go over these documents before you decide how to lay out your storage
http://powerlink.emc.com/km/live1/en_US/Offering_Technical/White_Paper/H2358_clariion_best_prac_fibre_chnl_wp_ldv.pdf
MetaLUNs
http://powerlink.emc.com/km/live1/en_US/Offering_Technical/White_Paper/H1024.1_clariion_metaluns_cncpt_wp_ldv.pdf
it sounds like you are working with support /speed guru so you are in good hands. I do not work for EMC nor am i speed certified.

Is hot spare should be used?
I need to create a new disk of 3.3 TB - I only have a couple of 133.68 and 66.44 gb to create a new Raid Group of 10
Old LUN 17 with Data with performance problem is Raid 5
They want me to perform a LUN migration
Move data to old metaluns 17 to new disks made out of spare disk? Is this a problem? Once the data is move
They want me to reformat the metaluns 17 diskpart it on the server side align it with 64 KB make it as Raid 10 and then do a LUN migration again from spare to this new disks? Is the characteristic and alignment during LUN migration carried it from Source to Target?

When you talk about "spare" drive are you referring to unused disks or are you talking about the HOT SPARE?
It make a difference in what type of answer you will get. If these are HOT SPARE disks, then you probably should not be using these. If you're referring to unused disks that you can use these.

I see that you currently have a case open with EMC (32660012) - they should be able to answer more fully your questions regarding MetaLUN 17.

When you use LUN Migration on the array, you take one LUN and Migrate it to a different LUN on the array. This uses a block to block copy process that copies all the data and structure of the source LUN to the destination LUN. This will also copy the file-system offset. So if your original LUN does not have file-system offset, then the new LUN will not have file-system offset.
What you need to do is use a host based copy program to move the data off the original LUN to a new LUN. When you create a new LUN, once you present this new LUN to your server, you first use diskpart to set the file-system offset. Then you format the new LUN, then you copy the data from the original LUN to this new LUN.
If the size of your original LUN is larger than all the unused space on the array, then you will have a problem moving the data to a new LUN.
