Clone device is showing as unknown
Hi,
I have configured the snapview clone, once all target luns are synchronized as a consistent, later fractured it & added the target luns into another storage group.
Now the probelm is target host is able to see the Luns as unknown. If you have faced this issue earlier, can you please help me out.
some of the technotes showing need to run admsnap on windows host, is it come with windows server by default or we need navisphere agent ?
or
Do we need to run chkdsk on unknown disk ?
Surya,
LA

Most problems on Clones are that the Clone was Fractured when it was not completed in "Sychronized" or "Consistent". Make sure that you flush all writes from the host source LUN to the clone (unmount source LUN for example), wait for the clone go into the Sychromized or Consistent state, then Fracture.
You can find more information in the White Paper: EMC CLARiiON Snap Clones - A Detailed Review in the Documents section on this forum.
ADMsnap is available on PowerLink - you can use this to issue CLI commands rather than using the Navisphere UI.

I'm pretty confident we fractured it when its showing as consistent. Problem here is disk is recognized as unknown, rather than labelled it automatically.

I'm not sure what these LUNs are used for. Does each LUN represent a single drive/partition (i.e. LUN1 - F:\, LUN2 - G:\)?
Are these all for a single database? file server? etc. Are these LUNs from a Windows host?
Did you do a consistent fracture (in other words, did you select all of the clones and fracture them at the exact same time?) Or did you fracture them each individually?

you could try to trespass the Lun on to the other SP. Is your host zoned to both SPs if not the disk will be unreadable if it is owned by the opposite Sp that the host sees.
