CX300 SAN - Lost web interface U and P

I have a Clariion CX300 SAN, and recently I was asked to migrate from an old server to a new server (all Windows 2003 servers), the one one being attached to this SAN.

My issue, is that when I tried to get into the SAN via the web interface, I did not know the username nor the password.  Obviously I need to get into the SAN to assign "groups" to the new server, so that the SAN's resources will show up on the new server.

I read somewhere here about getting into the SAN via the console cable using a PPP connection, and then clicking on New User to create another administrator account.

Heres my new problem(s):

I was able to get into the SAN via the console port, but I see nothing there that states New User, so I dont see a way that I can get into this device as an Administrator.

I do not want to reset any Domain security, as the security is crazy here, especially being that the old server, with the SAN being attached (and showing as a physical resource - Hard drives) has many, many AD security groups assigned to the many, many (very many, lol) folders that are on the SAN.

So, with that in mind, does anyone know how I can get into this SAN as an administraor without doing anything to the SAN's and the AD security groups?

Please bear in mind, that I am fairly new to SAN's, and also im running out of time to get this going, and the last thing I want to do, is copy all the info from the SAN onto a Hard drive on the new server, and then have to go and assign the many, many security groups to the folder I copy onto the server, change a lot of GPO's, and logon script.......

Yes you want to select "Reset All Domain Information and restart the Management Server".  i dont know what version of FLARE you are running so that option for a new user might not be in it.  I also remember that on the currect FLARE OS's, the option is to "destroy Domain" info.

I think you should only have to do that for one SP.   It should mirror the changes to the other SP.  Once you do that,  open a IE browser to the address of the SP you just reset the info on and it should connect.   The first thing that pops up should be a window asking you if you want to Initialize security.  Select "yes".  Then it should prompt you to create a new user.  Go ahead and do that and you will have access to the array again.  It may also ask you to select a domain master.  It is normally the IP address of SPA.

As for the services.  i dont know what the first one is but the Navisphere Agent is normal and should be loaded on every server that gets storage from the array.

Password is lost and cannot log in to array.

Resolution:

You must use a serial connection for the following procedure to work:

  1. Establish a PPP connection to one of the storage processors (SPs).


  2. Point your browser to this URL: http:// 192.168.1.1/setup

  3. Click "Add a New Account."


  4. Enter a user name and in the New Password Verification text box and type in the password again.


  5. Click "Restart Management Server."

    Note: You may need to restart Management Server on both SPs.


  6. Point your browser to this URL: http:// <IP_address_ of _SP>.

  7. Log in to domain using the newly-set username and password.

    Note: You also have the option of completely resetting domain security. However, if you select this option, you will destroy ALL domain information, including domain information for the master, other arrays, and portals. If you decide to reset domain security, replace Step 3 with the following:

    Click "Reset Security" and confirm.  (You must reset security on both SPs.)

    Then perform all other steps as described.


Note: If the procedure does not work, connect to the master SP and re-run Steps 1 to 7.

I just wanted to post and say a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who assisted me, I was able to get into the webinterface after destroying the domain security.

I now have another head scratching newbie issue, and will do a seperate postfor that, so look for "how to I get the server to "see" the CX300 SAN"

Dear Friends

im need a help,.,,

when I try to access the storage CX300 I get the message "launcher manager is disable."


How can I get access to my storage?? already tried downloading programs but all are with the lock on the side.

Where can I get Navisphere Off-Array User Interfaces (UIs) (Windows)?

I have also tried to establish a ppp connection , but is giving error. How is the diagram of the serial cable that I need to use?

To access the CX300, you start IE (6 or 8) and type in the IP address for either SPA or SPB Management Port. You must have JAVA installed and for CX300 the best version is Java 1.5.17.

To gain access to the software downloads, you must have a PowerLink account and your array registered by its serial number and all the software registered. This will open access to the softwore.

Navisphere Off-Array Client or the Unisphere Off-Array Client will allow you to connect to the array using the SPA or SPB IP address. But, if you can not access the array using IE, then Off-Array will probably not work.

The serial port is a standard RS232 serial port - a null modem cable will work.

the problem is that I can not establish a ppp connection. You are sure that a standard RS232 serial port cable will work?


im have pinout image of 3 cables

im confuse, what is the correct cable ????

Use the option 2 (null modem cable).

After connecting with the right serial cable (Null Modem) to CX300, I'm getting the error 721. Any idea?

we you first connect to the serial port, if the array is up and working, the port speed is set to 115K and you establish a PPP connection. If the array is down and you power on the array, the serial ports is set to 9600 baud and you use a terminal emulator to connect.

Thanks Glen. I'm connecting to the serial port with the port speed set to 115200 but still getting the error 721 by establishing a PPP connection.

By using Putty and 9600 boud, I'm getting the log info below.
