CX700 can boot from CX400 Flare disk ??

Hi

In my home lab i have CX700 with no flare disk but there are 15 x 146 GB FC disks. I can buy 4 or 5 Flare code disk 73 GB FC for CX400 costing only $250.

My question is can i boot CX700 from CX400 flare code initially and later on upgrade to release 26 flare code

I have no contract with EMC and don't have money to sign contract.

Any help will be appreciated

I doubt it. Those are two different generations and models of CLARiiONs. The FLARE code is model specific.

In the Clariion CX-Series, and CX3-Series, the arrays had specific versions of flare for the specific types of array.

For instance, 02.19.700.5.045 was Flare 19 Patch 45 for a CX700.

This version of Flare would boot and look for components specific to the CX700. If its not a CX700 the box would most likely not boot.

In the new CX4-Series the Flare code is array independent, and when booting it will check what type of array the box is and only boot those options. The Flare code for the CX4 arrays is currently Flare 28 which is not available for any other Clariion Series at this time (ever? I am not sure).
