Difference between Connectivity Status and Storage Group hostnames

I have a new CX3-80, coupled with a Cisco MDS, Windows 2003 Enterprise hosts, and Emulex cards. I have 14 hosts connected and working fine, but I just tried to add a new one and have a strange problem.

I zoned my MDS, connected the new host, loaded Naviclient, PowerPath, and updated the firmware on the Emulex (982) cards. When I go into Connectivity Status in Navisphere, I see my host with all 8 paths (four on each WWN), proper name and IP address, and everything looks normal. However, if I go into Connect Hosts on a storage group, the host is not there. Additionally, it sometimes changes the hostname on a node already connected to the name of the host I am trying to add, but leaves the IP address of the proper host (and the other host is still actively using the resources with no PP errors).

I checked DNS, no bad or duplicate entries.

If I go into Connectivity Status on the old host, it puts the new WWN connections of the other host under ~management for this one.

I can't find the problem anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look?

was the new host a new build or was it imaged from the old host that possibly had navi agent pre-installed ?

Both of these started as images from a host connected to my old CX500. I did uninstall Navi and PP on both of them as they were built to upgrade the versions, but yes, they are images.

Thanks.

Your first posting got me searching for the right word combinations in KB and I found the reg key where the ID was held and compared the two servers and found the match. I must have choosen "No" during the uninstall when it asked if I wanted to delete the agent config file. That registery key persisted on the new install.

I appreciate your help.
