I have had it running exclusively for our EMC supported equipment for a couple of years now. We moved to a new data center three years ago and the data center did not have any analog lines at all. None. So we tried using Cisco Analog Telephone Adapters which provided an anlog signal for the DMX and Centera modems and converted the signal to a VOIP line on our LAN. But it was reall low bandwidth, 14.4 I think and EMC support could not effectively support our site with them.

So we deployed ESRS about two years ago. It requires three servers: two gateway servers and a policy management server. They all run windows and I have them all running as VMs. It is a really low maintenance setup, all I do is update the Microsoft hotfixes on the VMs once a month. EMC will setup the configuration for you. Haven't had any issues with it and EMC has been able to support our environment pretty much without issue since we deployed it.

That's funny Dynamox, we must have deployed it at about the same time. I guess you were the guinea pig for your part of the country

been running this for about 2 years now. Running everything in VMs ( vSphere and VMware Server). Works great, can't really think of any issues, just have to make sure you meet all the requirements in terms of what ports need to be opened ..etc. Make sure your security folks are happy (are they ever? ). Did you have any specific questions in mind ?

We moved away from phone lines a year ago and have been very pleased with ESRS.

Only words of wisdom I can think of is to ensure you test before relying on it - Keep your modems around for a few months to ensure everything is working properly.

DMX systems worked well out of the gate, but we had upgraded Clariions and some of the S\N's were not properly mapped. They passed their initial tests, but a few months later none of the failures were being reported to EMC.

Good luck

Really just wanted to see if it was widely used (apparently it is) and stable (ditto) - Security folks?  Hmm, that would be me.  Network team?  Yeah, me again...SAN and NAS admin? Guess who?
