Gateway Change on SP's
I have a Clariion CX300 system in production, and has been for over a year. I'm now needing to change the Gateway IP of each SP unit. When I try, I'm informed that I'll have to reboot the SP.
During research, I came across article emc60751, which also mentions resetting security, re-adding it to the domain, etc when changing the IP address. Is all of this necessary to just change the gateway?
Also, since this is a production system, what effect would rebooting an SP cause? I can't have this system go down or affect performance.
This system is hosting an SQL 2000 database, attached to a Windows 2003 Enterprise SP1 system.
Your help is appreciated.

I can't answer about resetting security, but I can tell you that if you have multipathing set up properly for your hosts you can reboot the SPs (one at a time) without an outage. There could be a minor performance hit if the database is VERY busy (especially with writes), but no outage.
The performance hit will come from the fact that the traffic is normally load balanced (assuming a normal configuration) between the two SPs and during the reboot one SP will take the entire load. The other issue is with the write cache. With one SP rebooting, the write cache will be disabled.

1. Verify failover (Powerpath, each SP should have an active link or Navisphere, right click array, choose connectivity status, each HBA should be connected with A0 and B0).
2. Went to http:// /setup, changed the gateway and let it reboot.
3. When SPA was up, went to http:// /setup, change the gateway and let it reboot.
4. When both are up, go to http:// /setup and restart the management software.
5. Verify connections.
I don't have a domain for these units, so I didn't have to worry about security and whatnot. This worked well, took approx 20 minutes. If you do have a domain, you have to do several other steps in order to not break stuff.
