Getting issues while promoting a mirror
Hi,
I am trying to promote a sync mirror to a primary image (which is currently a secondary lun). I am running the following command
/opt/Navisphere/bin/naviseccli -h mirror -sync -promoteimage -name testSync -imageuid 50:06:01
The output of this command is - It does make the lun primary on the secondary array but the state on primary array is also shown as Primary i.e luns on both primary and secondary site is shown as Primary image.
Please let me know if the issue is with the command that is fired or there is something in the array configuration that is causing this problem.
Thanks for the help.
Regards
Ranjit

Promoting a secondary mirror will make it as Primary and if the original (on primary array) mirror is still available and accessible, it makes that image as secondary.
However, please ensure that you run this command to promote the secondary mirror to be a primary on the secondary array - that holds the secondary image - it should NOT be to the storage system that holds the primary.
Please use the Controller IP being of the secondary array.
Also, You can promote a secondary image if the secondary is synchronized
or consistent. If the original primary is available, the software does a full resynchronization unless it confirms that the two images were synchronized.
Please refer to the "EMC MirrorView¿/Synchronous Command Line Interface (CLI)" document available on powerlink for more details and references.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
